We checked back in with Bill Picciano, who we last spoke to in October 2009 after he'd recently been hired at the Savannah River Site (SRS) through the Recovery Act. Now he's permanently employed at the Site as an Associate Engineer/Technical Support Specialist - a job he's proud to have.

Tapping the entrepreneurial spirit of its Silicon Valley surroundings, Lawrence Livermore National Lab has a legacy that includes the launch of hundreds of successful companies. During just the past 20 years, five entrepreneurs from the Lab have founded four companies with a current market capitalization of $8.4 billion.

The Secretary joined local officials at the ribbon-cutting for a new lithium-ion battery separator facility in Concord, North Carolina. With the help of Recovery Act-funded expansions, Celgard expects to double its production capacity by 2012 and since January 2010, the company has added nearly 200 jobs in the state.
